February 2025 Newsletter
January Recap
January was a vibrant month at school as we welcomed everyone back from winter break and hit the ground running with lots of fun events.
We took time to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, fostering important discussions about his legacy. Our community came together for a parent education night featuring Dr. Brett, who shared valuable insights on setting boundaries with toddlers. To further enrich our month, we celebrated Lunar New Year with fun activities and a spectacular dragon dance performance. We concluded the month with our Read Your World Day, where parent volunteers shared stories from their cultures, fostering diversity and understanding within our school community.
Toddler Classrooms

In the Montessori classroom, toddlers engage in meaningful role play with replica phones, which fosters their social and communication skills as they mimic real-life interactions. This imaginative play encourages them to express themselves and understand the world around them. Additionally, tonging work helps develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as they practice transferring small objects with precision. Using their pincer grasp to manipulate the knobbed cylinders allows the students to compare and contrast the different sizes. All of these materials help the toddlers explore the world around them.
Primary Classrooms

In a Montessori primary classroom, activities such as share day, writing numbers on a chalkboard, and engaging in individual practical life activities next to their peers, create a dynamic learning environment.
Share day encourages children to express themselves and build communication skills as they present their chosen items to peers.
Writing numbers on a chalkboard fosters early math skills, allowing children to practice numeral formation and gain confidence in their counting abilities.
Group work with assorted practical life materials promotes collaboration and social interaction, as children work side by side to complete their own tasks, enhancing their sense of community and belonging.
These hands-on experiences are fundamental to the Montessori approach, nurturing both cognitive and social development in young learners.
Kindergarten Program

In January, the kindergarten children engaged in a creative project focused on Martin Luther King Jr. They worked diligently to create their own books, illustrating and writing about his life and the impact of the civil rights movement. Through discussions, they explored important social issues that were addressed during this time, learning about equality, justice, and the significance of standing up for what is right. This hands-on approach not only fostered their artistic skills but also instilled a sense of awareness and empathy for the struggles faced by others.

February Events

February is upon us, and we have a lineup of exciting events that will make this month one to remember for our students. First up, we’re thrilled to celebrate Black History Month! Throughout the month, we’ll be introducing to your children some amazing black musicians, artists, and inventors who have made significant contributions to our culture. It's a fantastic opportunity for our kids to learn and be inspired by these incredible figures.
We have a staff development day coming up, which means it will be a non-student day. While our teachers are busy sharpening their skills and brainstorming fresh ideas, your little ones can enjoy a day off. Use this time for some family fun or maybe a little extra sleep-in!
And let’s not forget about the classroom Valentine’s Day party! It’s that special time of year when hearts and friendship fill the air. Each classroom will be doing something special so please keep an eye out for an announcement from your child’s teacher. It’s always a joy to see the creativity and excitement that comes with this celebration of friendship.
Lastly, we will be closed for President's Day, giving everyone a well-deserved break. It’s the perfect chance to relax and maybe even catch up on some family time.
We hope you’re as excited as we are for all the fun activities we have planned for February. Let’s make it a month filled with learning, laughter, and love!

Friendly Reminders
Drop-offs
Classes begin promptly at 8:30 AM. You are welcome to drop off your children anytime between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM. Please note that any students arriving after 8:30 AM will need to be escorted by our staff to minimize disruptions to the classroom environment. In the Montessori environment, we do our best to protect the integrity of the children’s time, especially during morning circle time as it helps set the routine for our students as the teachers inform them of any special or important events. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a smooth start to our school day.
Sickness & Illness Policy
As we are still in the midst of flu season, we would like to remind everyone of our illness and sick policy to ensure the health and safety of all children.
It is crucial that you keep your child at home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:
- a temperature of 99.9°F or higher
- an undetermined rash
- a runny nose
- irritated eyes with mucus, green or yellow discharge
- a cough
- head lice
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- ear infection
Additionally, our staff will conduct wellness checks and consider any unusual behavior or lethargy your child may display, as these can be indicators of illness. If any of these symptoms arise while your child is at school, we will contact you to pick them up within 30 minutes. Children must remain at home, fever-free and without the help from medication, for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Furthermore, parents should notify us if their child has been in contact with someone who has an infectious disease, and a doctor's note will be required for the child to return to school.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community healthy.
